The challenge is to design a protective canopy for an urban pedestrian street. The goal is to provide an architectural solution that is functional, feasible and elegant. The canopy must protect people from the elements (rain, sun), while promoting good ventilation and daylight levels. Artificial lighting should be integrated into the design. The designer is free to choose a location, but the documentation should clearly explain the chosen location and how the design responds to climate and orientation. Please see the images in the gallery for design precedents.
